Fantastic and Exciting
Last weekend we cycled from Littlebourne to Grove Ferry with some friends, little knowing the treat that awaited us. After chatting to the two guys running the business for a short time, we found their enthusiasm so contagious that we couldn't resist the temptation of having a go at conoeing down the river. Never a better decision made! After two or three minutes of hilarious laughter whilst we orientated ourselves with our paddles, we then set off for an hour of fun in an awesome setting! A beautiful afternoon, a wonderful experience and worth every penny.

Great day our for the family
We were met at Fordwich where both boats were ready to go. After a brief safety instruction we were on our way to Grove Ferry. We saw many different birds along the way, the occasional person by the river walking dogs and super stunning countryside also. What also struck me was the peace and tranquility of it all - completely one with nature. I have also never talked so much to all my family as we were together for about 2 hours and there was no escape! Also, in order to get to the end we had to work together and therefore there was family bonding and teamwork also. When we arrived at the end of our trip, we had a picnic at Grove Ferry and again, like clockwork our boats and paddles were loaded up and our car was waiting to take us all home as well. I cannot recommend this enough to any families that would like a great morning or afternoon out. It really is a superb and extremely fun day out!
What a great idea!
I have often sat in the pub at Grove Ferry and watched people paddle elegantly by in Canadian canoes , it looks so peaceful ;a great way to escape the bustle of my day to day life.I was so pleased to find that Canoe Wild had started its hire business that I wasted no time in contacting Andrew and asked about his prices and how I could get out on the river. It seemed very reasonable and easy to arrange and I found myself out on the river with my partner at the weekend .We opted for an afternoon hire from Fordwich and after a decent lunch we were given instruction and all we needed for our trip, we set off towards the sea, well Grove Ferry! To begin with it was a bit of a challenge going in a straight line but remembering our tutor's advice we kept out of the trees and at times it was really exhilarating as the banks sped past.I lost count of all the birds we saw,not that I know what they were but it was good to be alone with nature. All too soon we saw the bridge at Grove Ferry and as we came around the bend we spotted Paul on the bank waiting to help us land and return us to our car.Brilliant afternoon and we will come back for more unless we sell our tandem and buy a canoe.Good luck with the new venture,Thanks to Andrew,Fiona and Paul .
Time out with the Hubby!
We have just done one of Canoe Wilds first group canoe trips down the River Stour my husband and I were in a group with 6 other people and Paul the instructor in a canoe on his own. I purposely made sure my husband left his phone in the car so I could for once get his full attention we had a great day and met some lovely people and the swans looked so peaceful and in love gliding down the quiet river and into the Westbere lakes, I soooo wish I had bought my camera. Paul was lovely and has bags of experience, he gave us some tips on canoe paddling we are quite a team in a canoe hopefully some of the teamwork will translate into the housework ….loved it totally hooked going again soon ( with camera).
A great way to see some fantastic wildlife up close
We got up early in the morning and set off from Fordwich down to the lakes it was so quiet and frosty but we were wrapped up warm with a flask of hot tea, the river and wildlife are so beautiful at that time of the morning a real treat.

A fantastic family adventure
I find a trip down the river so inspiring, jumping into a Canoe at Fordwich with my son who is 12 we set of paddling down the River Stour. Heading for Grove it was fantastic to have 2 1/2 hours bonding time with my son talking about the world, working together and see the wildlife along the river only disturbed by the odd munch of a cow chewing on the lush grassy meadows along the river. We made it to Grove Country Park where we stretched our legs and made a cuppa with our special storm kettle and munched up the sandwiches kindly provided by my wife! Then we set off paddling back up the river to Fordwich for where we were greeted by Andrew. My son then managed to persuade me (it didn’t take much) to pop in the George and Dragon for refuelling refreshments.
